Heads-up display technology was originally developed for military aviation to allow pilots to maintain visual focus on their environment while accessing critical flight data, and the CarX HUD brings this same fundamental benefit to everyday driving — reducing the time your eyes spend off the road and your attention divided between the road and your instrument cluster. Plugging directly into your vehicle’s OBD2 diagnostic port — located under the driver’s side dashboard in all vehicles manufactured after 1996 — the CarX HUD reads live engine data and translates it into a clear, intuitive projection that appears to float 2 to 3 meters ahead of you on your windshield, perfectly positioned within your natural forward sightline. The projected display includes current speed in your choice of MPH or KPH, engine speed in RPM with an optional shift indicator bar, engine coolant temperature, fuel consumption rate, and a speed limit overspeed alarm that activates a visual and audible alert when you exceed a driver-set threshold. The HUD projection brightness adjusts automatically through a built-in light sensor, remaining clearly visible in direct sunlight and dimming appropriately for night driving without creating distraction or reflection. A reflector film is included for vehicles whose windshield angle prevents a clear projection on the glass itself, providing an alternative display surface in all vehicle types.
